Default Can't upload images folder to forum folder

I'm almost there on the installation.

Step 3 - Upload Images (via FTP)
    ---------------------------------
1.Browse to your root vBulletin folder (the one with announcements.php, index.php etc...)
    2.Upload the folder named images/.
I highlight the "images" folder but the "Open" button doesn't activate.
So I can't upload this folder.

Is this because there is already an "images" folder?

    Thanks,
    Richard

What kind of ftp program are you using to upload those files?
Normally you mark the local folder, select the destination folder and then you should have a 'transfer' or 'upload' button.

I'm using the FTP built into bluehost.com cpanel.

I go to the forum folder, click the upload button, select the images folder, click "Open", and it uploads it.
Just can't activate the Open button.

So should I put the skin /images folder contents into the existing /images folder?

Well, I was using "File Manager" which only allows one file at a time to be uploaded/downloaded.

I switched to FTP and uploaded all the files in the "images/styles" folder to be uploaded to /images folder by mistake.
Should I be concerned about this?

Then I created a styles folder under /images and uploaded the files there as well.

On the forum, I don't see the option at the bottom of the screen to change the skin.
I'm following the instructions on the README file.

    I figured out what happened.

    My vB is version 4.1.6
    My skin is version 4.1.5

When I uploaded the skin style files I didn't change this setting to YES:
Ignore Style Version Use style file even if it was created by a different version of vBulletin?
Now all is well at the site!

I'm still wondering if I need to worry about the 1000+ files I uploaded to the /images folder.

Hey Richard, sorry for the late reply. Good to see you figured it out yourself.
The images folder from the archive should go into your forum root. If your uploading via a FTP program that will create all necessary folders itself, so no need to create then.

Normally those extra files should not cause any harm. Still i would always delete files that are not needed!
If i understand you correct you have now something like this:
    /forumpath/images/images/styles/stylename

If yes then you should navigate with your FTP program to
    /forumpath/images

Then you will see among some other folders the image folder you created by mistake. Highlight that folder and delete it.
Be sure to only delete the /forumpath/images/images folder and not /forumpath/images
Also also make sure you don't delete all folders that are in /forumpath/images

I hope you can figure it out.
