I would like to suggest you a transparent skin that it's backround image could manually be changed by the users.

This skin would give a different look to the forums as using the same skin, admins could change the backround image manually to suit their needs.

Same skin, different look, each time the image is altered. Users may change it on holiday periods (i.e christmas, easter, halloween etc) or seasons (winter, summer, autumn, spring) or even some local to the forum's country events (soccer, basketball or even culture, music, cinema events) giving their forums a different up-to-date look.

But the forumbits, threadbits etc should also be a little transparent so as the backround image to be always a little visible regardless the part of a forum users are visiting,

Hope I helped with my idea!

    Regards,
    Michael

Thumbs up Re: *CONTEST* Help design the next theme series with a chance to win free skins!

I suggest a theme dedicated to Real Estate (industry) since this is still a very lucrative field on internet.

The skin/theme colors should reflect a very corporate image (blue, black, red or white colors).

I would like to see a natural theme. Something that would appeal to people who have food, garden, organic or even "green" sites. Using colors from nature, earth, plants etc. This could site style could be a little inspiration. Yogi | Yogi Organic Tea

The idea of being able to change the backgrounds is excellent idea, many advertisers are offering ad space for backgrounds now. .

My suggestion is to create a "retro" skin based on the 2.x series, the very early days of the vBulletin but with todays functionality and depth.

I would also like to see the addition of "easy adsense" placement incorporated within the design and possibly managed via admin panel.

I would suggest a dark theme suited to a science fiction forum. Some nice dark backgrounds, blacks and blues as the color scheme. The idea I had was to look like a futuristic computer UI. Imagine if ou will iOS in space...

I think a sports based theme would be great. Football would be my first choice but baseball would be a close second. The theme would use the football or baseball icons throughout and would be grass green with maybe a goal post (or a base for baseball) thrown in there. I host a football forum and I have yet to find a good theme for sports use.

Clean, non-cluttered skin that's hallmarked by simplicity!

It is nearby impossible to find a vBulletin skin that's 'un-themed'.

    Now, that would be different...

For example, look at sites like TED: Ideas worth spreading ] and Liquid Agency [ Liquid Agency Brand Marketing | Services ].

Simple. Direct. Sophisticated through absence of over-statements.

Such as skin would help site owners who want to say loads by saying as little as possible. For such site owners there's no refuge among the countless 'Hi-Fi', 'Sci-Fi', 'Hi-Tech', 'Game-Pro', 'Dungeon-Dragon' and 'Fast 'n' Fury' skins offered by just about skin shop.

Hold fire on colors, borders, shades and grad's. Let the design emphasise content.

Showcase you can design 'empty' - if you can, of course.

CompleteVB - continue to create your great skins by finally doing something that no other skin designer dares to do - go stark. Go opposite. Show courage. Stay clear by going clean.

    Call the theme 'Zen'.

    I'd love it.

Ooh, can we enter more than once?

The first thing I'd love to see is a medieval theme, something with a parchment/scroll look. This would be very popular among the RPG/SCA set, as well as for communities that observe Talk Like Shakespeare Day.

I'd also like to see a better selection of (for lack of a better word) "girly" themes. By that I do not mean "make it pink". I mean breaking the boxy structure of virtually all forum themes with sinuous curves and scrollwork. Maybe a lace or fabric look? How about a theme that looks (and to the extent possible with vB, acts) like a scrapbook?

Local forums are always popular, how about something that caters to that? It could come integrated with a directory script (complete with Google Maps) to local businesses. The private messages could be shaped like a (customizable) post card.

How about a set of sports themes with the profile pages arranged like trading cards?

    More later...

    Few ideas.

    1. Child theme - there is plenty of forums for/about children(for them or their parents). It should be colorfull and funny.
    2. Medical theme - for forums about health, drugs, medicine, etc.
    3. Minimalistic theme - clean and simple, less is more.
    4. Your street forum - a skin for neiborhood, (with funny picture - interfere with the neighbor at the fence)
